In Cagliari, the local cuisine offers a unique gastronomic experience. Don’t miss fregula, Sardinian pasta often served with seafood, and fish a scabecciu, marinated with vinegar and spices. Try cocciula e cozzas a schiscionera, mussels and clams cooked with tomatoes and herbs, and burrida a sa casteddaia, a skate stew with garlic and vinegar sauce. Su mazzamurru a sa casteddaia is a rich lamb stew. Malloreddus and porceddu are typical Sardinian dishes par excellence.
To get to Cagliari you have several transportation options by sea. If you are coming from Naples or southern Italy, you can take a direct ferry that connects the port of Naples with Cagliari in about 15 hours. On the other hand, if you want to reach Sardinia from central Italy, you can take a ferry from the port of Civitavecchia. Finally, if you want to reach Sardinia from Sicily, you can embark from Palermo and arrive in Cagliari in about 12 hours.
