Elegant and charming, Sorrento is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Campania coast. Situated on a promontory overlooking the Gulf of Naples, this picturesque town is renowned for its historical charm and natural beauty. Among its main attractions are its beaches, which stand out for their beauty and variety, offering visitors a unique experience.
The beach of Marina Grande is perhaps the most famous in Sorrento. With its authentic atmosphere, this beach is one of the most characteristic places in the city. Here, visitors can relax on the pebble beaches, swim in the clear waters and enjoy delicious fish dishes in the little restaurants along the coast. Located near the port of Sorrento, Marina Piccola is a small but popular beach with locals and tourists. Thanks to its central location, it is easily accessible and offers a variety of services, including well-equipped bathing establishments and restaurants.
The Baths of Queen Giovanna are another pearl of Sorrento’s seaside tourism. They are an enchanting place, rich in history. It is a natural swimming pool a few kilometers from the centre of Sorrento, accessible by a panoramic path. Puolo beach, just a few minutes from the centre of Sorrento, is one of the largest beaches in the area. Its shallow waters and sandy seabed make it ideal for families with children.
A quiet and charming alternative for those who wish to explore the beaches of the Sorrento Peninsula, the beaches of Massa Lubrense are located a few kilometres from Sorrento, about 13 kilometres. Here visitors can enjoy clear waters and pebble beaches surrounded by lush vegetation and breathtaking views. Not far from here is the Baia di Nerano, in the hamlet of Marina del Cantone, famous for its crystal clear waters and pebble beach. This enchanting bay is ideal for snorkelling and diving, thanks to the richness of its seabed. The restaurants along the bay are particularly famous for the preparation of spaghetti alla Nerano, a typical dish of the area. Just outside Sorrento, the beach of Meta is one of the largest on the Sorrento peninsula and is divided into two parts: Marina di Alimuri and Meta Mare. While the former is mainly sandy, a rarity in this rocky area, the latter is made up of small pebbles and some jetties.
