Sardinia, with its rugged coastline and crystal clear waters, is a true paradise for beach lovers from all over the world. In this article, we bring you the heavenly beaches of Sardinia, destinations that make this island a dream destination.
La Pelosa Beach, located in northwest Sardinia near Stintino, is one of the most iconic beaches on the island. It is famous for its incredibly clear waters, which take on shades of turquoise and blue, and for its fine white sand.
La Pelosa is also one of the most protected beaches in Sardinia: you must use mats under towels so as to prevent sand erosion. There is also a daily limit of visitors, so it is advisable to book access in advance. La Pelosa is easily accessible by car from Stintino, which is about 2 km away.
Cala Goloritzé, located in the Gulf of Orosei on the east coast, is one of Sardinia’s most enchanting beaches. Famous for its natural stone arch and the spire of Monte Caroddi, the cove has deep blue waters and ideal seabed for snorkeling. To protect and preserve this incredible pearl of the Mediterranean, access by sea is allowed only to non-motorized boats.
Porto Giunco, located near Villasimius in southern Sardinia, is famous for its white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. The beach is bordered by Notteri Pond, a brackish lagoon populated by pink flamingos. The combination of sea and lagoon makes Porto Giunco ideal for birdwatching. The beach is also perfect for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Porto Giunco is easily accessible by car from the center of Villasimius, about 2 km away.
Cala Mariolu, located in the Gulf of Orosei in the municipality of Baunei, is one of the gems of Sardinia’s east coast. The beach features white pebbles and clear, turquoise waters. It is ideal for snorkeling, thanks to its seabed rich in underwater caves. Cala Mariolu can only be reached by sea, with organized excursions from Cala Gonone, Arbatax or Santa Maria Navarrese.
Is Arutas, in the Sinis Peninsula near Cabras on the west coast, is one of Sardinia’s most characteristic beaches. What makes it so unique is its sand, made up of pink, green and white quartz grains. The waters are crystal clear and range from turquoise to deep blue, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Is Arutas is located about 10 km from Cabras and is easily reached by car by following the directions to the Sinis Peninsula.
