Positano, with its pastel houses and views of the crystal clear sea, is one of the most fascinating destinations on the Amalfi Coast. Famous for its charm, it attracts tourists from all over the world in search of relaxation and beauty. But Positano is more than just beaches and good food: for those who love to hike, here is one of the most spectacular trails in the Mediterranean, the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods), which offers unique thrills amidst breathtaking views and unspoiled nature.
The Path of the Gods is a true adventure between the sky and the sea. The trail connects Agerola, from the hamlet of Bomerano, with Nocelle, a small village overlooking the sea near Positano. It is an itinerary of more than 10 km, ideal for experienced hikers and for those who want to immerse themselves in a natural landscape of extraordinary beauty. Along the way you will be treated to dizzying views of the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri, a setting that makes this hike truly unique.
The trail is well marked with red and white signs and the number “02”. From Colle Serra, a first descent leads to a fountain. From here, hikers from Praiano can join the trail along a mule track that climbs towards the Path of the Gods. The path becomes more challenging, with ups and downs amidst impressive views. It passes through Vallone Grarelle and reaches Nocelle, a historic hamlet of Positano.
In the past, Nocelle was only accessible on foot, via a steep flight of steps that wound down the mountain from Positano. Today, visitors have two options: descend the 1,500 steps that lead down to the village of Arienzo, or take a convenient bus directly to Positano. The Path of the Gods is easy to reach, thanks to connections by sea and land. From April to October, Travelmar ferry passengers can take advantage of a convenient shuttle service that connects the port of Amalfi to Piazza Capasso in Agerola, not far from the beginning of the trail.
To make the experience even more evocative, arriving in Positano by sea is an ideal choice. You can enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi Coast from the vantage point of its crystal clear waters. During the tourist season, numerous ferries and hydrofoils connect Positano with the main cities and towns along the coast, such as Naples, Salerno, Sorrento and Amalfi.
